Weekly Programs

Beach Hillel offers programming throughout the year, whether one-off programs or regularly recurring programs. Some special annual programming includes holiday programming as well as our annual Israel Week.

To stay up-to-date on upcoming events, you can check out our Instagram profile.

Every Tuesday we host Tuesday Shmoozeday, where students can meet, mingle, and take a break from their hectic schedules.

Nearly every Friday during the academic year even we host Shabbat dinners. We gather as a Beach Hillel family to bring in Shabbat, light the candles and eat a delicious meal.

Jewish Learning

Do you enjoy fun and lively conversations?
Do you want to challenge the status quo?
Do you have questions about Judaism that are important to discuss?
Do you want to discover how Judaism is relevant and forward-thinking?
Do you want to join a warm community?

The Jewish Learning Fellowship is for you! This learning experience is different from any class you have ever attended!

The Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) is a 8-week experiential, conversational seminar for students looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism on their own terms. We’re interested in asking big questions. You know, the big stuff — like Who am I? What communities am I a part of? What is worth committing myself to, and why? And we don’t purport to have any of the big answers.

Israel Programs

Curious to learn about Israel? We offer learning sessions about the history, geography, politics, and culture of Israel, as well as its role as the Jewish homeland. One of our mega-events of the year is Israel Week, a week-long celebration of the Jewish State on-campus every spring. Another exciting opportunity we have this year is our Israel Learning Fellowship. This is a multi-class series where students have the chance to deepen their knowledge of Israel and ask all the questions they have.

There is no better way to learn about Israel than to travel to Israel. Beach Hillel takes eligible students from Long Beach to Israel on Taglit-Birthright Israel trips. Taglit-Birthright Israel is a 10-day FREE trip to Israel to 18-26 years old Jewish students. We also offer a 10-day free trip to Israel for student leaders at CSULB. This trip dives into the geopolitics, history, and religions of Israel. Yarin would be happy to introduce you to different opportunities in Israel such as internships, study abroad, and volunteering programs, as well as leadership opportunities, such as internships for pro-Israel organizations in the US, and attendance to conferences across the nation.
