Beach Hillel offers Israel programming in three fields (3-E’s): Engagement, Education and Experience:
Last year Beach Hillel hired our very first Israel Fellow- someone who is coming all the way from Israel in order to bring Israel programming to campus. The Israel Fellow is working for Beach Hillel as part of a cooperative effort of the Jewish Agency for Israel and Hillel International. You are invited to meet our Israel Fellow, Shelly, and ask her anything about Israel. Shelly is the person you want to contact if you wish to learn about Israel, attend Israel based programs and get involved in the Pro-Israel community on campus and in Long Beach. Feel free to reach out to her at Shelly@beachhillel.org
Join our Israeli educational programs on and off campus! We offer learning sessions about the history, geography, politics and culture of Israel and its role as the Jewish homeland. Shelly, our Israel fellow, hosts bi-weekly learning meetups on Israel called: “Israel Peace of Cake” and bi-weekly Hebrew speaking classes called: “Hebrew Happy Hour”. One of our mega events of the year is Israel Week on campus. Israel week will happen during the spring semester so keep a lookout for more info
There is no better way to learn about Israel than to travel to Israel. Beach Hillel takes eligible students from Long Beach to Israel on Taglit Birthright Israel summer trips. Birthright is a 10 day FREE trip to Israel to 18-26 years old Jewish students. Shelly would be happy to introduce you to different opportunities in Israel such as internships, study abroad, and volunteering programs, as well as leadership opportunities such as internships for pro Israel organizations in the US, and attendance to conferences across the nation.
