Joel Bond
Innovation Specialist, Long Beach Hillel

Joel came to Beach Hillel in July 2016 as our Innovation Specialist as part of the Springboard Fellowship. After going through Tarbut V’Torah and being raised in South Orange County, Joel recently graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics #Aztecs4Life! During his time on campus, Joel played an active role in the Jewish and non-Jewish campus communities, which include Alpha Epsilon Pi, Associated Students, Aztecs for Israel, Hillel, and Model United Nations. Following graduation in 2015, Joel spent the next year working in all levels of politics, in which he realized his love for Jewish student life and was drawn back to the Hillel world. Now that Joel is a part of the Long Beach community, you can catch him playing basketball at the JCC, singing some Stevie Wonder classics or discussing the impacts of American foreign policy.

Get to know Joel and email him at Joel@BeachHillel.org!

Maya Unger
Israel Fellow, Long Beach Hillel

I’m Maya Unger, the new Israel fellow! In Israel, I worked as a lawyer, but I am musician in my soul. So, in my free time, I sing and create music.

I am very happy and excited to be part of Beach Hillel and to share about Israel, where I have lived my entire life. I am also excited to connect with the students and connect them to Israel, to its culture, education and values. I am here for any questions or requests.

As the only girl among seven brothers, I had to survive, which is why I learned Karate and Judo when I was little, because I had no choice. I love to cook, paint, and, in general, anything related to art. Also, I love chocolate!

You can email me at Maya@BeachHillel.org

Ally Levine
Ezra Fellow, Long Beach Hillel

Ally Levine is extremely excited to be joining the Beach Hillel team as the Engagement Associate and Ezra Fellow. She graduated from the University of Kansas, Rock Chalk! During her time at Kansas she was involved in various student organizations. She helped found KU Encouragements with two of her peers with the goal of boosting campus morale. She was actively involved in Hillel, serving as a student intern for three years. In addition to Hillel, Ally was part of a sorority where she served on the PR and scholarship boards. After college, she spent a year in Israel using her teaching credential to teach 4-6th grade classes in English while soaking in the Mediterranean sun and eating all the falafel she could. Ally is happy to be returning to Southern California after 5 years and is looking forward to meeting the wonderful Long Beach student community.
