Joel Bond Innovation Specialist, Long Beach Hillel
Joel came to Beach Hillel in July 2016 as our Innovation Specialist as part of the Springboard Fellowship. After going through Tarbut V’Torah and being raised in South Orange County, Joel recently graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics #Aztecs4Life! During his time on campus, Joel played an active role in the Jewish and non-Jewish campus communities, which include Alpha Epsilon Pi, Associated Students, Aztecs for Israel, Hillel, and Model United Nations. Following graduation in 2015, Joel spent the next year working in all levels of politics, in which he realized his love for Jewish student life and was drawn back to the Hillel world. Now that Joel is a part of the Long Beach community, you can catch him playing basketball at the JCC, singing some Stevie Wonder classics or discussing the impacts of American foreign policy. Get to know Joel and email him at Joel@BeachHillel.org!
Alicia joined the Beach Hillel family in July 2015 as the Beach Hillel Engagement/Programming Associate. Originally from Orange County, Alicia spent the past four years in Northern California at UCSC (go banana slugs!) and earned her B.S. in Cognitive Science and minor degree in Jewish Studies in June 2015. She was very active in Jewish life on campus, including the pro-Israel community, the Jewish-interest sorority Sigma AEPi, the Jewish Student Union, and, of course, Santa Cruz Hillel. After graduating, she was so inspired by her experience as a student involved in Jewish campus life that she wanted to help provide the same amazing experience for Jewish students here in Long Beach. When she’s not creating awesome Beach Hillel programs or hanging out with students on campus, Alicia loves to spend her free time outdoors – hiking, playing tennis, and practicing yoga. If you haven’t met her already, she’d love to get to know you! She can be reached at Alicia@BeachHillel.org.
